
The repetitive jumping and side-to-side movements required in volleyball increase the risk of injuries to the foot and ankle. The volleyball players should be aware of the following:
Inversions ankle sprains are very common injury in this sport. Ankle sprain are evaluated by Dr. Singh to determine the extent of the injury and possible peroneal tendon injuries and fractures. Dr. Singh will develop a treatment plan. Failure to fully treat and rehabilitate a sprain may lead to chronic ankle instability and recurrent sprains.
Overuse and excessive training can also lead to heel pain, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis, sesamoiditis, stress fractures, posterior tibial tendinitis and calcaneal apophysitis as well as capsulitis and synovitis in children and adolescents.
